Racing fans in many jurisdictions around the world are familiar with pacer Bettor Notbitter A, an iron horse who banked close to $400,000 in lifetime earnings the hard way.
The now 11 year-old son of Bettors Delight began his life and racing career in Australia. He was imported to the US four years ago and raced at several different tracks before coming north. He made his debut at Mohawk on Boxing Day 2021 and was a mainstay on the WEG circuit from that point on.
The tough campaigner was claimed a remarkable 18 times during his career which saw him face the gate on 184 occasions. He retires with a summary of 42-34-28 $391,076. His final start was on September 11 at the Campbellville oval where it was apparent his time on the track was over.
“Several of his previous connections have reached out to me and OSAS is going to take him in,” explained Joanne Colville, OSAS’s administrator. “You couldn’t find a nicer horse and with the help of the expert veterinarian team who have been treating him, we’re confident he will have the retirement he deserves.”
“It’s going to take some time to get him rehabilitated so we are going to take the unusual step of fundraising specifically for him as the time and effort required will be more than with our usual adoptees. We’re very encouraged by the support already shown by people familiar with the horse and hope to see that from others who enjoyed watching him on the racetrack for so many years.”
