Longtime Harness Racing Fan Passes

Horse owner and longtime racing fan James "Jim" Allison of Barrie, ON passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning. He was 68 years old.

A caring, and passionate man, Jim had a tremendous love for Harness Racing which he shared with his wife and longtime friend, Nancy. Jim touched many hearts in the industry, and had often been referred to as the most "generous" person. Often times he would delight employees with treats and meals he had prepared and brought to the stables where his racehorses were located.

A love for horses is what emanated through Jim's life, as he was a dedicated fan, especially to his most recent racehorse, Daylon Mistress. The 5 year old Duke of York mare, has been finding recent success at Georgian Downs. It was a rare sight not to see Jim standing at the finish line, cheering his horses on across the wire.

A memorial will be held on Monday, November 22nd. There will be visitation at 1 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. at Bethel Community Church located at 128 St.Vincent Street, Barrie, ON. Jim's family requested that donations be made to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society (OSAS) in remembrance of the passion and love he had for the horses and Harness Racing.

OSAS wishes to express their condolences to the family and friends of Jim at this time.
