Praise For The Admiral

Everyone associated with the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society were shocked and saddened yesterday to learn of the death of the great Admirals Express, Canada's horse of the year in 2005 and a winner of more than two million dollars during his long and storied racing career.

One of the most recognizable racehorses in recent years due to his unique colouring that led to his nickname The Grey Gladiator, the Admiral had been making many more fans for harness racing since his retirement.

He and Wellington Charles had competed in several horse shows around the province which promote the versatility and wonderful nature of the Standardbred horse and what they can achieve after their racing and/or breeding careers have come to an end.

Admirals Express and Welly were incredible ambassadors for the sport and OSAS could not have asked for a more perfect horse to carry its message. We wish to express our condolences to everyone involved with this incredible horse as well as our sincere gratitude for their request to have donations made in the Admiral's name to OSAS.

He will never be forgotten.
